| 1916 | born as Inoue Yûichi on February 14th in Asakusa, Tôkyô |
| 1935-76 | works as primary school teacher |
| 1942 | begins an eight year calligraphy training with Ueda Sôkyû |
| 1951 | first exhibition of own calligraphic works in Tôkyô |
| 1952 | founds with artist friends the group "Bokujin-kai" (Ink People Society) and serves as chief editor of its monthly magazine “Bokujin” (until its 50th issue). |
| 1957 | shows the work “Gutetsu” at the São Paulo Art Biennial. Attracts the attention of English art critic Herbert Read. |
| 1959 | submits work for documenta 2 in Kassel. The work "Gutetsu" is published in Herbert Read’s A Concise History of Modern Painting. |
| 1985 | died on June 15th |
